Licensing question

Vladimir Shkvyrya Jan 20, 2016 12:38AM PST

Our organization has two TMG servers, 1 of them Cold/Standby. Therefore, at every moment only one TMG server is active and serving users.

Both servers using same MS SQL database for storing logs.

Do we have to buy two licenses for TMG Reporter in our scenario?

Hi Vladimir,

Thanks for getting in touch about this. Technically, this would require two licenses assuming they are two separate TMG Servers, with different names, IP addresses and so on (even if part of the one cluster). TMG Reporter will need to be configured to listen to both TMG Servers, not just one, therefore requiring two license keys.

Even though they log to the same SQL database, TMG Reporter keeps track of the number of different TMG Servers logging to the same database and is licensed accordingly.

That said, our sales department ( will be in touch to see what they can work out with you.
